About Chocolate OG

Chocolate OG is a mostly indica strain created by San Francisco-based breeders THClones. It is a cross between Chocolate Rain and True OG, a genetic combination that gives is a rich, palatable aroma and progressively stronger physical effects. Chocolate OG’s THC content has been measured at between 19% and an astonishing 29%.

Flowers of Chocolate OG are marked by medium to large flowers that show off a tapered shape, somewhat like miniature pinecones. The internal composition of these buds betrays their indica roots, with a dense core composed of small, tightly-curled leaves. These leaves themselves are a very dark shade of green and are flecked by curly, deep brown hairs — which are actually reproductive structures called pistils. Finally, Chocolate OG is capped off by an even coating of frosty, resinous trichomes that account for the strain’s high psychoactivity.

When properly cured, Chocolate OG bursts with a sweet, cocoa-laced aroma. A deeper whiff, however, may reveal a pungent, almost cheesy tang. Breaking apart or grinding up these buds releases some hashy, spicy notes, passed on from OG Kush. When Chocolate OG is combusted, meanwhile, it burns with a smooth but sour, mouth-puckering smoke. On the exhale, this smoke leaves traces of earthy, coffee-like flavor.

As you might expect from such an indica-heavy strain, Chocolate OG has a slow-acting high. Some 10 to 15 minutes after consumption, users may finally experience effects like an increase in salivation or a faint pressure around the temples and lower forehead. Once these head-focused tics become familiar, though, smokers are submerged in a strange new mindset in which external stimuli can seem to take on new vibrancy or dimensions. Smokers may experience trippy phenomena like slight visual and auditory distortions as well as an ineffable feeling of time moving more slowly. For those who want to push these psychedelic vibes even further, atmospheric enhancements like moody music or a visually engaging movie can do the trick. Other than these sensory effects, though, Chocolate OG may not do much to stimulate the mind and those hoping for a bout of cerebral productivity may be disappointed.

Chocolate OG also comes with physical effects that, though subtle at first, may become progressively stronger and harder to ignore. Limbs and eyelids start to feel weighed down, leading smokers who may have been active and away from home to seek out the closest comfortable couch. For those who are already kicked back at home, Chocolate OG’s sedation may contribute to pleasant immobilization, banishing any prior concerns or preoccupations to the background. At this point, the high is best spent lounging and pursuing chill activities like card games or binge watching. Because of its largely sleepy properties, Chocolate OG is recommended for consumption beginning in the evening or nighttime.

Chocolate OG’s heavy, stoney effects can be useful for medical as well as recreational consumers. Its subdued feelings of euphoria can temporarily improve the symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. On the physical side of things, the strain can reduce deep-seated aches and pains, whether they’re due to minor, inflammation-related concerns or to chronic conditions like lupus or fibromyalgia. In a totally relaxed set and setting, Chocolate OG can be an antidote to insomnia, pulling smokers into a deep sleep. Its ability to stoke the munchie may even make this strain a good way to stimulate the appetite of patients suffering from digestive difficulties or undergoing harsh treatments like chemotherapy. Because it doesn’t often come with strong, cerebral patterns of thinking, Chocolate OG is a good option for patients who are prone to panic or who have a low THC tolerance.

Seeds of Chocolate OG have not been made available for sale online. Prospective growers who live in Northern California, however, may be able to obtain clippings (or “clones”) of mature plants of the strain from a THClones vendor. Plants can be cultivated indoors or out, although outdoor success depends on a semi-humid climate with daytime temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The strain’s tight, indica-influenced nuggets suggest that its plants have a short, bushy stature and that they reach flowering maturity within a brief 8 to 9 weeks.

A tasty, luxurious smoke for end-of-day relaxation, Chocolate OG is enjoyable whether you’re toking alone or sharing with friends. It’s a must-try for indica lovers.
