About Argyle

Although it shares its name with a county in Scotland, Argyle is a Canadian-born indica hybrid. This strain, which was created by Canadian company LP Tweed, is a cross between Sensi Star and a landrace indica from Afghanistan. The result is a fragrant bud with a stoney body high. With roughly equivalent amounts of THC and CBD, this Argyle is also very useful for medical cannabis patients. Although it only contains moderate amounts of THC of between 6% and 13%, the cannabinoid acts in concert with CBD to provide significant psychoactivity.

Argyle’s flowers stun consumers right off the bad, with medium to large nuggets that maintain a roughly conical shape with a broad base. These buds have a dense and characteristically indica structure, with a solid core and tightly-coiled leaves. The leaves themselves are a particularly vibrant shade of lime green and are twisted through with bright orange pistils. Finally, cloudy white trichomes dot the inner and outer surfaces of these compact buds, making them hard to break up by hand.

An initial inspection of cured flowers of Argyle opens up some sharp, peppery notes characteristic of parent strain Afghani. A second whiff hints at a more vegetal, herbal undertone like eucalyptus or sage. Grinding up these flowers gives off a skunk, sour-sweet pungency. Thanks to a heavy, rich blend of terpenes, Argyle gives off an acrid smoke when burnt that may sting the sinuses or palate. On the exhale, this harsh smoke tastes woodsy with a hint of spice.

Unsurprisingly given its mostly indica background, Argyle takes its time to show up. It may be as long as 15 minutes after smokers have ingested its thick fumes before they feel a rush of blood and a sudden heaviness in the face. As temples begin to pulse more heavily, waves of relaxation may begin to roll down from the neck and slowly radiate outward through the core and limbs. It’s not long before smokers are sunk into euphoric laziness and rush for the closest couch (if they’re not sitting down already). Argyle does not to much to stimulate the thinking process or any powers of analysis, but it may warp the senses for a uniquely psychedelic experience; some users notice distortions ranging from a flattening of visual depth to an uncanny sensation of time moving more slowly. Users who find these trippy phenomena appealing can make them more fully immersive by turning on some moody music or adjusting their ambient lighting conditions. As time passes or as dosage is increased, Argyle’s feeling of relaxation may become more and more intense and can easily morphy in entrenched couchlock. As such, the strain is better suited to passive pursuits like watching TV or snacking than to more productive activities. Because it is more likely to put smokers to sleep than to endow them with a buzzy, upbeat energy, Argyle is best consumed between late afternoon and early evening; it’s also a great toke for just before bedtime.

Argyle’s strong physical sedation and its therapeutic levels of THC give it several applications for medical cannabis patients. The strain’s thorough relaxation can help to temporarily take the edge off of stress, depression, and even anxiety. Its body-numbing effects, meanwhile, may soothe physical pain, whether it’s temporary, as due to injury, or chronic, as due to conditions like arthritis or lupus. Anti-inflammatory properties may also soothe minor irritations like cramps or headaches. In the right set and setting, Argyle can even lull insomniacs into a deep and fulfilling sleep. Because it is not known to induce paranoia-stricken bouts of obsessive thinking, Argyle is a good option for patients who are prone to panic or who have a low THC tolerance.

Seeds of this powerhouse strain are not available for sale online. As such, prospective growers should seek out a trusted source from which to obtain clippings of the strain that can be fostered as clones Argyle’s plants can be grown in or out, although successful outdoor cultivation calls for a humid climate with consistent daytime sunlight and temperatures in the 70 degree Fahrenheit range. Plants tend to grow short and bushy with strong lateral branches and can be easily accommodated indoors. Argyle flowers within 8 to 9 weeks.

Argyle is a great choice whether you’re medicating alone or winding down with some friends after a long day. Those looking for a less traditional method of ingestion can even take advantage of LP Tweed’s various forms of THC concentrate.
